Spunk and Bite

I really enjoyed Spunk and Bite because Plotnik's focus was on the freedom a writer has versus the normal books on writing where all you read about are the rules - what you can't do. Writing, to me should be a liberating activity and I think that too much academia about writing has turned it into a very rigid and formal activity. Plotnik is very responsible about reminding the reader of the limits, but he definitely broadens the parameters of writing by suggesting interesting and inovative ways. His style is very readable, as he uses the prose to practice what he preaches...a crafty trick to provide himself with practical evidence necessary for credibility.
